Biography

Being a young girl my curiosity gifted me with the gift of art. I grew up in the wonderful cundiboyacense high plains, where I played in giant corn jungles and danced under the rain with little bugs. And I loved this world and the color provided by all these little insects. While in school, Prismacolor had a nationwide art contest and I participated on behalf of my school. To my surprise, I won second place which led to me having to paint live for TV cameras. I drew a tropical ocean sunset, even though I had never actually seen one. This was when I discovered my imagination; that is how I decided to become an artist and I moved to Bogota to study Anthropology and Fine Arts in the Javeriana University and the Art School El Rodeo. While I was in this world I discovered Hieronymus Bosch and his incredible garden of delights, with all its flora and fauna magic.

Years later, while a young mother of three wonderful children in Cali Colombia, I reencountered with one of my old art teachers, today a recognized artist; Fabio Daza, who introduced me to engraving in his prestigious studio T GRABA. A little insecure in this high stakes and demanding medium was the start of my love affair with engraving in which all the magic from my childhood flourished, as well as my fascination with Bosch and the fauna and flora of the Americas.

I’ve participated in the Cali’s Chamber of Commerce Biennial where I received a mention of honor for my work. My art has since then been displayed in various spaces in Cali, Colombia such as the Sociedad de Mejoras Públicas, ICESI University, French Alliance and others. I was also invited to participate in workshops and exhibits organized by the master Omar Rayo in the museum bearing his name in Roldanillo. Now, back in the USA I have become immersed in exploring other artistic mediums such as photography, pastels, and various paints
