Biografía


María (Maruja)  es originaria de Chile.  Siempre ha tenido un gran amor y aprecio por el arte desde su infancia.  Para ella cada pintura es una gran oportunidad para crear una obra de arte que permanezca como una hermosa expresión de vida y sentimiento.  Ha recibido varios premios y menciones honorables en diferentes exposiciones de arte. 

​Tras varios años de estudio en el Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington DC  y en la Art League en Alexandria es ahora artista residente en Washington ArtWorks en Rockville, MD, donde ella da clases de pintura en español.  Es miembro de Portrait Society of America y Oil Painters of America.  También fue seleccionada por la DC Commission of Arts and Humanities y por la Gaithersburg, MD Commission of Art para decorar esculturas de fibra de vidrio como proyectos de Arte Público.

  


Biography


​María (Maruja) comes originally from Chile. She has had a profound love and appreciation for art since her early childhood. To her each painting is a great opportunity to create a work of art that will remain a beautiful and exciting expression of life and feeling. She has received several exhibition awards and honorable mentions in different Art Shows.


After years of study at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, DC, and the Art League in Alexandria, she is now a Resident Artist with the Washington Art Works group in Rockville, Maryland, where she teaches painting classes in Spanish. She is a Member of the Portrait Society of America and Oil Painters of America. She was chosen by the DC Commission of Arts and Humanities and the Gaithersburg, MD Commission of Art to decorate fiberglass sculptures as public art projects that were exhibited in the Arena Stage Theatre in DC and Washingtonian Rio in Gaithersburg..
